Our 2011/2012 season began in September, 2011. We expect to have about eight events this season, including at least one field trip. As specific dates and times for future events are determined, information will be posted here.

Field Trip: The New Bedford Whaling Museum
  When: Saturday, Apr. 28th, 2012
The New Bedford Whaling Museum will be the site of our spring field trip. The Museum has a rich collection of historic documents, including maps, related to whaling as well as to local and maritime history. The collection was significantly enlarged in 2001 when it absorbed the holdings of the Kendall Whaling Museum. Among the Kendall Museum's holdings, now at New Bedford, is the panel from the manuscript world map of Matteo Ricci that John Day explored at our January meeting (described in the list of prior events).

Details about the New Bedford field trip (timing, driving directions, etc.) will be emailed to members well in advance of the field trip.
